Spring is Here! Time for New Ideas in the Kitchen!

So I was mindlessly surfing the internet the other day and discovered a cute idea.  You know how some restaurants have the cute little cookie bowls they put your ice cream in?  Well, I found out an easy way to make these at home!  You wouldn't believe how easy it is.

That's right!  You bake them on the bottom of a muffin pan!  Genius, right?! These are perfect for ice cream treats with the kids or just for a date night with your Hubby watching a movie.

Here's the recipie from Wilton.com.

Ingredients:
  • 2 3/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon of Salt
  • 1cup (2 sticks) Unsalted butter, Softened
  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon No Color Almond Extract
Makes 12 cups.

Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray the outside of each bowl cavity of Ice Cream Cookie Bowl Pan with vegetable pan spray.
  2. n medium bowl, combine flour and salt. In large bowl, beat butter and sugar with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and extracts. Add flour mixture to butter mixture, 1 cup at a time, mixing after each addition.
  3. Roll out dough on generously-floured surface to 1/8 in. thickness. Cut 4-1/2 in. circles from dough.. Drape one circle over each bowl cavity of pan, pressing to form smooth surface.
  4. Bake 11-13 minutes or until cookie cups are firm and golden brown. Cool on pan on cooling rack 10 minutes. Loosen bottom edges of cookies from pan using small spatula. Carefully remove cups from pan and cool completely. Wash, dry and spray pan; repeat with remaining dough.

This recipe makes Sugar cookie cups.  Play around with your own cookie recipes and see what you can do!

Purex Ultra Packs Review

Today's Review is about Purex's new product that just came out.  It's called Purex Ultra Packs.  They have 2 scents: Mountain Breeze and Free & Clear.  What's different about this product is that they are little packs (like the dishwasher ones)  that you just throw into your washer drum.  You can use them in regular and HE washing machines.

Purex Ultra Packs makes it a little bit faster to do laundry if you're trying to just run out.  Instead of pouring and measuring the liquid out, you just throw a pack into the washing machine before you put your clothes in.  I like the simplicity about this product because when you're in a rush or dealing with rowdy children you just throw it in, instead of getting the liquid everywhere or on your hands.  Overall I give this product 5 out of 5 stars.  It cleaned my clothes and made them fresh smelling.  The colors and whites were brighter and cleaner.

So in case you are wondering, "What are Purex Ultra Packs?", here's a few facts about this product:

  • They are new convenient pre-dosed liquid detergent packs
  • They manage to squeeze the same Triple Action liquid formula in just one powerful pack
  • No Mess!  No Spills!
  • 2x Concentrated detergent in each pack, which gives them double the cleaning power
  • Safe for all Machines
  • Two different scents: Mountain Breeze and Free & Clear
How do I use them?

  • Make sure your hands are dry before handling the packs
  • Put one pack in the washer drum, then put clothes in
  • If you have a front loader, DO NOT put it into the drawer, put it directly into the drum before your clothes

If you would like to try this product out for yourself, you can request a free sample here.

I was given a sample of Purex Triple Action Ultra Packs by Purex to test it out and give my opinion.  I was not paid for my opinion, all opinions on this blog are my own.  This is not a sponsored post.

Voskos Greek Yogurt with Granola Review

Recently I was at my local Publix Supermarket and a sale caught my eye.  Voskos Greek Yogurt was 10 for $10 which to me is a good deal when normally they are close to $2 a piece.  When I reached for my normal yogurt, I noticed that they had a new product out.  It was the same yogurt just with a side cup of Granola.  I thought to myself that sounded pretty good, so I grabbed a few flavors to try out.

I grabbed 3 different flavors to try out: Strawberry, Vanilla, and Blueberry.  My favorite I would have to say was Vanilla with the Granola.  It was pretty good and the Vanilla flavor didn't take away from the granola which was a plus.  Now the thing I was most amused by was the packaging.  The side with granola flips over straight into the yogurt with no mess!  I'm not sure if I'm just easily amused, but I was super excited about this feature.  See below,  isn't that cool?!

Amazing isn't it?  lol  The other plus was that my 2 year old daughter loved it too.  I didn't want to share and I thought she would only eat maybe a bite or two, but she ended up eating the whole thing!

At 140 Calories a cup, Granola included, it's not a bad snack or breakfast.

If you would like to give this product a try, don't forget to go here to print out a coupon.

Brownie Popsicle! Delicious!

This is another great recipe I found on Pinterest.com.  (Btw, this site is awesome, let me know if you would like an invite!)  Now onto the recipe.  These are brownie popsicles. It's a perfect, not too messy treat for your children.  You can serve these up at a play-date with some milk.  They're really easy to make, which is a plus!

Here's what you'll need:

  • Brownie Mix or What You Need for Your Favorite Recipe
  • Color Candies for Melting
  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Sprinkles
  • Wax Paper

Directions:

Bake the brownies as the box or recipe says and let cool to room temperature.  Cut them into rectangle bars and stick the popsicle sticks in the smaller side of the brownie.  Put them on a piece of wax paper. Melt your color candies in the microwave according to directions.  (I usually stir every 30 seconds until smooth and completely melted.) Pour on top of the brownies and sprinkle so sprinkles on top.  Wait till that side is dried and then flip them over and do the same to the other side.  The final and last step is to enjoy your treats!

What do you think of this recipe?  Would you do anything different?

Springtime is Here!

Today I woke up and when I went outside I thought to myself, Spring is Here!  I love Spring!  To welcome the new season, I will be making this wreath I found on Pinterest.com.  The simplicity and beautification of this wreath which screams SPRING!

The materials you will need for this project are as follows:

  • Green Grass color Fun Fur yarn
  • Fabric flowers of Your Choice
  • Sewing Push Pins
  • Styrofoam Wreath
  • Ribbon for Hanging
Here are the easy directions:

Wrap the yarn around the wreath till it's completely covered around.  Cut the flowers and pin them to the wreath wherever you want and as many as you would like on your wreath.  Tie the ribbon aroud the top, tie a bow, and hang on your door!

Let me know if you are going to try this.  Post some pictures, I would love to see your wreath!  Any other ideas for spring in your household?
